We are delighted to announce that Sara, the documentary feature produced by Elaheh Nobakht and directed by Harde Samir, has received the EBS Commissioning Pitch Award at K-DOCS 2026.
The award marks an important milestone in the development of Sara, a Switzerland–Iran documentary project following Sara Yusif, a young Kurdish girl from northeastern Syria whose life was profoundly affected by the war against ISIS and its aftermath.
Presented through the EBS Commissioning Pitch, the award recognizes Sara among an international selection of documentary projects presented at K-DOCS, one of South Korea’s major documentary industry platforms.
For Elsa Image, the award represents an important step in bringing Sara to an international audience and strengthening the project’s development and production prospects through international collaboration.
“We are deeply grateful to EBS and K-DOCS for recognizing Sara and for supporting the film at this stage of its journey. This award is an important encouragement for our entire team and for Sara’s story to reach audiences beyond the borders of the places where it began.” — Elaheh Nobakht, Producer
Sara is produced by Elsa Image Sàrl (Switzerland) and Eli Image (Iran).
The project was previously announced among the finalists of the EBS Commissioning Pitch. It has now received the EBS Commissioning Pitch Award, marking a significant achievement in its international development.
We would like to thank EBS and K-DOCS for this recognition and for their support of independent documentary filmmaking.
